Cancellation policy
Effective Date: September 13, 2026
This Purchase Options Cancellation Policy applies to advance orders, preorders, and other deferred-fulfillment purchases made from Hat Theory.
Preorders Placed Before October 1, 2026
Orders placed before October 1, 2026 are advance orders or preorders because fulfillment of this merchandise is scheduled to begin on or after October 1, 2026.
Full payment is collected when the order is placed.
Preorder Cancellation Deadline
Preorders may be canceled through:

Your request must include your order number and must be received before the cancellation deadline.
If an eligible preorder is successfully canceled, the amount charged for the canceled order will be refunded to the original payment method.
A cancellation is not complete until Hat Theory confirms that the order has been canceled.
Orders Placed After the Preorder Cancellation Deadline
Beginning September 30, 2026, preorder merchandise is considered committed to our upcoming automated fulfillment process.
Orders placed on September 30 are therefore not ordinarily eligible for cancellation after they are submitted.
This cutoff is necessary because Hat Theory uses an automated fulfillment workflow with its warehousing and fulfillment provider, NextSmartShip, in preparation for shipments beginning October 1.
Orders Placed On or After October 1, 2026
For orders placed on or after October 1, customers may contact us immediately to request cancellation before fulfillment begins.
However, because orders may be transmitted to our fulfillment provider automatically, submitting a cancellation request does not guarantee that the order can still be canceled.
Once an order has entered processing or fulfillment with Hat Theory or NextSmartShip, it cannot be canceled through our ordinary cancellation process.

Changes to an Order
Hat Theory does not modify product selections on an existing submitted order.
If a customer needs to change the merchandise ordered, the original order must first be successfully canceled while cancellation remains available. The customer may then place a new order containing the desired merchandise.
If the original order can no longer be canceled because fulfillment has begun, it cannot be modified or exchanged merely to correct a customer ordering mistake.
Shipping Delays and Legally Required Cancellations
The cancellation restrictions above apply to ordinary voluntary cancellation requests.
They do not limit cancellation, refund, or other rights that applicable law requires.
If Hat Theory cannot ship an order within a shipment timeframe we have represented, we will provide any revised shipment information, opportunity to consent to a delay, cancellation right, refund, or other remedy required by applicable law.
Final-Sale Merchandise
Cancellation before fulfillment is different from returning merchandise after shipment or delivery.
Hat Theory merchandise is specialty seasonal Halloween merchandise and is final sale after shipment, except for approved claims involving damaged, defective, incorrect, missing, materially nonconforming, or otherwise legally eligible merchandise.
